FRENZY
YOUR AUGUST 2002 RMC RESULTS ARE IN!
Well, the fourth year of RMC kicked off with a Hitchcock film. Nothing wrong with that. But first things first.
The Preshow Entertainment was the 30 minute Michael Moore documentary PETS OR MEAT. It's actually a postscript to ROGER & ME. He goes back to Flint and interviews some of the people from the movie, and how the movie even made them famous...or notorious. And lots of clips of Moore on different shows. Now I'm all for trademarks in one's appearances. For example, I wear Converse sneaks almost daily. But come on Mikey, enough with the Bazooka Joe ballcap. He looks like he should be carrying a pinwheel. Anyway, like the movie, the doc was pretty interesting. More like an extension, or even added footage to the movie. Maybe it's on the DVD, if there is one.
August's movie was FRENZY. This was RMC's third Hitchcock (YOUNG & INNOCENT, I CONFESS). It's also his second to last film. And....I believe, his only film to use profanity and nudity. It's strange to see this in a Hitch film. Anyway, once again, we have the wrong man accused of a crime he didn't commit. There's some great dialogue and colorful characters (the inspector's wife), but some of the scenes go on too long. Still, when someone dies with their eyes wide open and tongue hanging out, I mean, can you really go wrong? And breaking a dead person's fingers to get what's in their hand? And that wonderful shot coming down the stairs and out the door after a murder is committed?
