AN AFFAIR TO REMEMBER
YOUR DECEMBER 2000 RMC RESULTS ARE IN!
Here we have the delightful Cary Grant and Deborah Kerr as they meet on a ship and fall in love. Of course they are about to be wed to significant others. When you really think about it, they are sort of despicable people. However, you just end up loving them. They are charming, don't you know. Three years later they would reteam for Stanley Donen's THE GRASS IS GREENER.
This is the movie that SLEEPLESS IN SEATTLE lifted (well, actually 'used') for their plot device of "Hey! I know! We'll meet atop the Empire State Building!"
It was directed by Leo McCarey, who I will always be fond of for directing DUCK SOUP, and less fond of for directing LOVE HAPPY. It was released the year I was born.
The Preshow Entertainment was Adam and Burt in costume, as spokesheroes for the new ABC fall line-up in 1966. This is the second time we watched this tape. We are slowly making our way through the whole thing. Look for more in 2001, as well as an episode of It's Garry Shandling's Show, Max Fliescher's Superman cartoons, and even, how do I say this without scaring anyone away....some of my old student films from NYU. There.
